Nick Lone of Indian Hill on the Cattaraugus Territory was nominated for Best Rap/Hip Hop/R&B Recording “Native Pride” at this year’s 19th Annual Native American Music Awards that was held on November 2nd at the Seneca Niagara Casino. Nick beat out other top Native artists and ended up taking home the award. When asked how he felt when he won, he explained how he was in a state of shock, “I just couldn’t believe it.” This was his second nomination but first time bringing home the prize.

Nick started his music career years ago as just something to do but started taking it seriously about two years ago, which is the advice he wants to give to aspiring musicians, “Take it seriously, buy your beats, put your music up for sale. You have to own the exclusive rights in order to make money.” All of Nick’s music including his single “Native Pride” are available to stream or purchase on all the top Mp3 sites.

The next step in Nick’s career is to travel and perform at more shows along with putting out a music video and work on his next album. For next year’s Native American Music Awards, he plans on submitting a music video and a couple more songs in the hopes of being nominated again and ultimately winning. Ja:goh Nick!
