T.E.R.C. holds HSED graduation

By Sarah Pangborn

On August 19th, 2020, the Training and Employment Resource Center (TERC) held their annual HSED (High School Equivalency) graduation at the CCC gymnasium for the graduates of 2020.

This year we had 13 graduates on both territories. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, our graduation was not one of our typical graduation celebrations but our department did the best we could considering the circumstances for our graduates and their families.

At 5:30pm the graduation ceremony began with the graduates walking down the aisle to the ceremonial “Pomp and Circumstance” also known as the Graduation March which is placed as the processional tune at virtually all high school ceremonies. The ganö:nyök was recited by Marcus Waterman. Thank you Marcus and to all the speakers who gave motivational messages to our graduates. Tim Waterman, Allegany Councilor spoke to the graduates on behalf of President Armstrong. Eliot Jimerson, Deputy Chief of Staff spoke on behalf of Treasurer Pagels and Presley Redeye, Cattaraugus Councilor, on behalf of the Councilors.

The graduates received a certificate of completion from our HSED program as they received their actual diploma in the mail from the New York State Education Department. The graduates received gift bags from the Executive offices and Training & Employment Resource Center. A to-go dinner from Chiavetta’s was provided to the graduates and their families.

A big thank you to Brad John, CCC Director and his employees for assisting us with this event. Congratulations to all our graduates who worked so hard to achieve their goal.
