I’m thankful you are well! Best wishes to students as they prepare for the new school year. With the threat of COVID – 19 becoming greater within the county and around the State, please be vigilant with COVID protocol. Schools are preparing to open with face to face instruction and new safety protocols in the classroom and on school buses. It is extremely important that we keep our community safe and everyone can do their part by becoming vaccinated. The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding allocation to members who completed the application by July 31st was mailed out the last week of August. This funding was to mitigate the costs of dealing with COVID-19 over the past year. Some members may have incurred additional health expenses, or other unforeseen costs. The second deadline date was in August, and funding allocation will happen during the week of September 22nd.
Other ARPA funding will be used for infrastructure, such as water and sewer, and for the broadband initiative in Cattaraugus. We appreciate the input provided on the survey which was attached to the ARPA application letter. This will help determine other needs within the community.
Lastly, the Seneca Fall Festival will happen on September, 11th and 12th at the Saylor Building grounds. Event applications and schedules are available on sni.org. We are excited to be able to gather and enjoy our culture amidst the COVID crisis. The theme for this year’s festival is Senecas together, Senecas safe.
The regular September Council session is moved back a week so everyone can enjoy the festivities. Have fun and come support our vendors!
