LEWISBURG, Pa. — Bucknell sophomore track and field student-athlete Rayven Sample has been named the Bison Athlete of the Week after competing in the Paralympics last week.

Sample made his Paralympic debut on Thursday evening, qualifying for the T47 400m final. The native of Jamestown, N.Y. finished third in his heat to earn automatic qualification, running a lifetime-best time of 50.01 in the process.

The time for Sample was the fourth-fastest of the competitors during the preliminary heats.

Overall, the sophomore competed in five meets for Bucknell, earning a win in the 400 at the Bucknell Tri-Meet in March, and also helping Bucknell’s 4×400 squad to a victory at the Bucknell Quad on April 11.
