On Friday, September 30, 2022, Seneca Gaming Corporation and Executives gathered in Niagara Falls for the second annual Every Child Matters walk in remembrance of those devastatingly impacted by the residential boarding schools’ era and to further the continued healing across turtle island.

The crowd came dressed in orange, making a visible and powerful statement. September 30th is “Orange Shirt Day” in support of the Every Child Matters movement (in remembrance of the thousands of Indigenous children who were victims of the Native American boarding schools in the United States and Canada) and is Canada’s National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

The event featured special guest speakers and motivational speeches, our Haudenosaunee singers and dancers, appearances and representation from the Buffalo Bandits and Buffalo sports personalities, the remembrance walk and various food trucks. Niagara Falls was illuminated orange throughout the evening as well. Most importantly, this annual walk recognizes all the young victims, and solidifies our commitment to ensuring this brutal cultural destruction never happens again.

Bringing awareness to the tragedies that have taken place allows us to remember and heal, reflect, learn and grow. Seneca Gaming Corporation says “Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Remembrance Walk in Niagara Falls.”
