One year with Seneca Solar – A Division of Seneca Holdings

The renewable energy development and climate consultancy business of the Seneca Nation, Seneca Solar has now been operating for over a year. Collaborating with aligned partners, we’re making great progress on our mission to profitably and equitably deliver innovative climate solutions that heal the Earth.

As a Tribally owned business, we help Native communities participate in the clean-energy economy with renewable energy projects, and we help private-sector companies do more good in support of their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals.

To advance this work, we’ve been expanding our team as well as our partnerships. Read on to learn more about what we’ve been doing!

AN EXPANDED PARTNERSHIP WITH AEDG
Seneca Solar has expanded our strategic partnership with Alternative Energy Development Group (AEDG), a developer of commercial and industrial clean energy projects. The image above shows one of their completed projects.

AEDG was the first partner to join Seneca Solar’s Certified Partnership Program. Together, Seneca Solar and AEDG have been working to advance renewable energy developed and controlled by Native communities.

As part of the expansion, Kevin Ademu-John joined our team as Project Manager. Working closely with AEDG, he will help manage over 55 megawatts (MW) of solar and energy-efficiency projects across multiple U.S. states.

CONNECTING WITH OTHER NATIVE ENERGY LEADERS
This month, Seneca Solar and other Seneca Nation representatives participated in the 5th Annual Renewable Energy and Sustainability Conference hosted by the Seminole Tribe of Florida.

Seneca Solar Business Development Director Erin Dayl gave an overview of Seneca Solar’s work at the session “Building Tribal Capacity to Fund, Develop, and Deploy Clean Energy in a Self-Determined Way.”

The conference provided a valuable opportunity to connect with others working on Native energy. It also gave us deep insights into funding opportunities for Tribes and a path to serving Tribal goals.
