President Kathryn Button, elected officers and members we would like to thank Iroquois Post 1587 American Legion, and community for supporting our Auxiliary Fundraiser during the Seneca Nation Community Fair 2024 held April 5th at the Cattaraugus Community Center. Without a doubt it was a great day to be among the community, Veterans, vendors and SNI Departments. Thank you to the SNI Councillors that stopped by with great words of encouragement and support. Thank you to the event organizers that kept everything running smoothly while in the arena. Thank you to Auxiliary members, Legionnaires, Post 1587 Commander Ronald Cook, Jr. and Erie County American Legion Auxiliary President Cheri Hahn for the support, donated items and baked goods.

All proceeds directly benefit our mission to assist the Post, serve our Veterans, youth and community.

Senior High students visited the Sully Huff Heritage center earlier this year for a pottery workshop with Brennen Johns while immersed in lots of exposure to our Seneca language. They also enjoyed fun games and activities and were treated to taco in a bag for lunch!

Fun fact: Lake Shore alumni are working at the Sully teaching language and taking part in the Seneca Language Immersion program. We are so proud of you!

Gowanda High School musician Jack Warrior III was selected by the Erie County Music Educators Association to participate in the ECMEA All County Chorus Festival which was held this past weekend at the University at Buffalo. March was Music in our Schools Month at Gowanda Central.

Jack is the son of Kim and Jack Warrior Jr. and grandson of Arlene and Jack Warrior Sr. Jack is actively involved in the Arts of music and theatre. He has been self-taught on the guitar and piano since 10 years old. He also played with “The Modern Band Project” at the GCS 3rd Annual Hall of Fame Induction ceremony in September 2023 as well as playing a part in the February 2024 play “Cinderella” as “The King”. Ja:göh Jack!
