Best Wishes to Allegany AOA Staff Member Nancy Printup on her Well-Deserved Retirement!

August 2022 | Photos by Seneca Media

With 37 years of dedicated service, friends and family came together to celebrate the retirement of Seneca Nation employee, Nancy Printup.

Prior to her time with the AOA, Nancy worked at ECLC for 15 years. When she started with the AOA she delivered meals to Elders before she eventually moved into her role as a EISEP Case Manager, where she was responsible for Elder intake and working to determine what services they were eligible for. Now, she’s retiring as an Activity Leader, after 22 and a half years with the AOA.

She has, as she put it, “Enjoyed her time and learned a lot.” Nancy is looking forward to her next chapter at home with her family. Nancy is married to Ed and together they have 3 children, 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild on the way.

Congratulations on your retirement, Nancy!

Sign-up sheets for shows will be available 1 MONTH prior to the event. Numbers are turned in to the Casino 1 week prior, if you have a change in plans please cancel before then. Be sure you will be attending when you sign-up as there has been an increase of last-minute cancellations, resulting in a waste of Elder entertainment funds for the remainder of the year. On average we have at least 4 unused tickets per event at an average cost of $47/ticket that’s $188 per show that is being wasted. The last show we had 15 last minute cancellations at $62.50 per ticket, a loss of $937.50 that could have been used towards other events. Please be mindful of this when you sign-up. Nya:wëh!

Dave Kimelberg, a member of the Seneca Nation of Indians, made a splash in 2020, when he opened K Art, which is now among the few commercial galleries in the U.S. owned by an Indigenous person. In its debut at the Armory Show, the gallery demonstrated that it is definitely worth watching. Its offerings include pieces by Erin Gingrich (Koyukon Athabaskan, Inupiaq), whose handsome wall-hung sculptures are delicately strung through with strings of glass beads, and G. Peter Jemison (Seneca), a recent star of MoMA PS1’s Greater New York quinquennial. Native Nations Sovereign (2019), a painting by Hock E Aye Vi Edgar Heap of Birds (Cheyenne and Arapaho) that features the names of cities throughout the U.S. and the names of Indigenous nations, presides over the booth.

I would like to thank all of our friends and family who helped myself, my children, my aunt and uncle get through one of the toughest times we’ve ever endured. August 15, 2022 we lost a great man, my father – Jeffrey H. Snyder. Many of you may know that I reached out to our community for love, kindness, and support prior to the pandemic – the kids and I wanted to bring him back to live with us as his failing health prevented him from being on his own. He was able to live out his final days peaceful, happy and comfortable; and was able to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

From the beautiful flowers, the cards, & kind expressions of sympathy shown during my father’s passing, as well as the many, many years worth of stories – all of it, truly helped us all! During our time of sorrow, we all learned how much our family and friends mean to us. Thank you all so much for your kindness and sympathy at a time it was needed and deeply appreciated.
