BALTIMORE – University at Albany senior Jakob Patterson has been named America East Preseason Player of the Year by Inside Lacrosse, the publication recently announced. He was joined on the Preseason All-Conference list by junior Alex Burgmaster.

Patterson, an attack from Chandler, Ariz., is the reigning America East Offensive Player of the Year, finishing the 2019 campaign with 25 goals and 32 assists for team-leading 57 points. Patterson led the America East in 2019 with 4.07 points per game.

Burgmaster, a midfielder from Auburn, N.Y., played in 12 games last year, scoring two goals with two assists and 11 ground balls with two caused turnovers.
Additionally, UAlbany was picked first in the Inside Lacrosse America East Preseason Poll. Vermont was picked second, followed by defending champion UMBC in third, with Stony Brook and UMass Lowell rounding out the top-five.

Vermont, UMass Lowell, and UMBC led the way with three preseason selections each, while UAlbany and 2019 America East regular-season champion Stony Brook each drew two.
