The Seneca Nation Health System (SNHS) continues to provide the COVID-19 vaccine to those individuals who are high risk due to age and health. To date, the SNHS has received 1,000 prime doses from the Indian Health Service, with 950 doses administered by the end of the day today, Friday, 1/29. Additionally, booster doses were given this week and there are 70 individuals fully vaccinated.
After being vaccinated, it is very important to continue to use universal precautions such as mask wearing, hand washing, and social distancing. The vaccine is fully effective 14 days after receiving the boost (or second) dose.
The SNHS COVID-19 vaccination team is currently contacting individuals 55 years of age and older, who receive services at SNHS, to schedule appointments. Please note, the COVID-19 vaccine will not be available to the general public for several months, although additional community members will be eligible in the next phases of the distribution plan.
