Seneca Nation Condemns Violence Against Asian American Pacific Islanders
Seneca Nation President Matthew Pagels issued the following statement condemning the recent wave of violent attacks against Asian American Pacific Islanders across the United States:
“The Seneca Nation joins in condemning the violent attacks against Asian American Pacific Islanders, which have been on the rise across the country as well as here in New York, and most recently manifested in the senseless massacre of individuals of Asian descent in Georgia.
For too long, this country stood silently by as members of vulnerable communities – including Native people – have been the targets of racism and hate. No longer.
We add our voice to the growing call for long overdue respect and equitable treatment for all people, and we stand in solidarity with those who have historically been marginalized and pushed aside. They –and we – will be heard.”
