Attention Elders:

The AOA Centers are NOW FULLY RE-OPENED!

We are excited to announce that the AOA Elder Centers are fully reopened. The Wini Kettle Senior Center and the Seneca Allegany Elder Center will be open to Elders from 8am-4pm, Monday-Friday.

Elders are welcome to stop in and enjoy the AOA facilities. Play a game, work on your crafts, or just enjoy a cup of coffee with friends. All activities will be self-directed until normal staffing levels resume. Please note that COVID safety precautions are still being followed, including: temperature screenings, social distancing and mask wearing for unvaccinated individuals.

Lunch will continue to be served from 12-1pm each day at:

• Wini Kettle Senior Center, 28 Thomas Indian School Drive, Irving, NY (daily)
• 44 Seneca Street, Salamanca, NY (daily)
• Seneca Allegany Center, 3644 Administration Drive, Salamanca, NY (Thursdays only)

Please remember to call for lunch reservations by 3pm the day before: Allegany (716) 945-8414 , Cattaraugus (716) 532-5777.

If you are not feeling well, please stay home.

Heat Advisory Safety Tips

Reminder: The Allegany and Cattaraugus Community Centers are open as COOLING Centers for those with no ability to keep their homes cool during periods of high temperatures and extreme humidity.

INSTRUCTIONS TO STAY HEALTHY:

• Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors;
• Do Not Leave Young Children and pets unattended in vehicles under any circumstances;
• Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening;
• To reduce risk during outdoor work, the scheduling of frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments is recommended;
• Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke; Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.


Medical Transportation

Starting in August, AOA drivers on both territories will be available to provide medical transportation to Elders needing a ride for medical appointments. Please call two weeks in advance to schedule your trip. Medical transportation is not available between 10am and noon each day because of home meal deliveries.
