From The Desk of The Treasurer

Greetings,

I knew our nice summer weather was coming! It looks like we’ll be getting an opportunity to work on our tans for the next couple of weeks. If you find you have the time, please don’t forget to check in on the elders in our community. After spending last summer, practically in complete isolation and away from people, I’m sure they would welcome a brief visit.

For all of our lacrosse fans, the 20th Anniversary Fort Apache Cup Lacrosse Tournament will be held this Saturday, August 14th, 2021, at Veterans Park in Salamanca. They will have food, music, craft vendors, a softball tournament and Smoke Dance competition. Also, I have some Buffalo Bills fans on my staff and they are telling me that the Buffalo Bills football season kicks off with their first pre-season game against the Detroit Lions on Friday, August 13th, 2021. Their home opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers will be on Sunday, September 12th, 2021, at 1pm and they will be playing four prime-time games this season. “Billeivers” are looking forward to a victory in Super Bowl LVI, 2022. Let’s go Buffalo Bills!

If you missed the August 2nd, 2021, deadline for the first round of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, you still have an opportunity to receive your portion of funds from the second round. Please complete the three survey questions on the last page of the form. You must also complete your registration requirements with the Clerk’s Office. The deadline is August 31st, 2021, for the second distribution date of September 29th, 2021. If you have not
received an ARPA Fund form in the mail, please contact the Clerk’s Office as soon as possible – Allegany: (716) 945-1790; Cattaraugus: (716) 532-4900; Buffalo Office: (716) 951-7555.

This global pandemic is not over. Cases of COVID-19 are on the rise in the counties which surround all of our territories. I understand the Delta Variant is spreading very aggressively in our region; and is effecting unvaccinated people particularly hard. If you are presently unvaccinated, for the protection of yourself, your loved ones and all of our community members – please consider getting your COVID-19 immunization shot(s).

Respectfully,
Rickey L. Armstrong, Sr.
