From The Desk Of The Treasurer

Greetings,

This time of year gets so busy! I made time to stop by the H.E.R.O. Committee’s Turkey Dinner drive-thru giveaway on the 18th. I heard the dinners were delicious. They had turkey and all the fixings. Even though they were prepared and increased their number from last year, they still ran out within twenty-five minutes of the beginning of their distribution time. Hopefully, by Fall of 2022, everything will return to our new normal and the committee will be able to host a large community gathering for this event, as they have done in previous years.

I’d like to acknowledge all of the hard work, energy and efforts of the Health Education Recreation and Other departments (H.E.R.O.) Committee. They are the group that has been tasked with putting together community events on the Allegany Territory. The core group consists of: Health Education, Child & Family Services, Education, ACC-Recreation, Crime Victim Services, SALC and TERC, with the support of Council; and the Treasurer’s Office provides administrative support. Each department in the core group is committed to contributing to various elements for each event the committee executes. In addition to the core group, they reach out to all of our Seneca Nation departments for anything from door prizes to donations of food or treats/prizes/gifts for children and community members. All donations of goods and services are most appreciated. They are a well-organized, cohesive group which manages to plan and execute events for our community on an almost monthly basis. The next H.E.R.O. event will be a Winter Drive-thru Stocking Pick-up event in December. Keep up the great community work you are doing H.E.R.O. Committee!

I cannot stress it enough, but it is going to take everyone in our communities to help get us on the other side of this COVID pandemic. Again, if you test positive, or have been in contact with people whom have tested positive, please do not mingle in the community by attending gatherings or breaking quarantine to go to the store; as these type of actions are what continue to spread the virus. Remember, this virus is highly contagious. Please isolate yourself until you test negative.

Respectfully,
Rickey L. Armstrong, Sr.
