March 25, 2022 – On Friday night prior to our match against Furman, the team officially adopted our newest member, Lucy Donmoyer.
In conjunction with Friends of Jaclyn, a foundation dedicated to improving the quality of life of children battling pediatric brain tumors and other childhood cancers, the team held an event to celebrate Lucy and the official announcement of her as the team’s newest honorary co-captain.
Lucy was first diagnosed with high risk neuroblastoma in April 2020, and has since been fighting against the horrible disease including undergoing eleven cycles of chemotherapy, multiple surgeries, two bone marrow transplants, and six cycles of immunotherapy.
Since meeting the team earlier this season, Lucy has provided a light to the entire Jacksonville Lacrosse Program as she always is full of energy with a big smile. The team chose to welcome her and fight alongside her for the rest of the season as she continues to battle her cancer.
Please join us in celebrating Lucy and wishing her well in her treatment. The team hopes to continue to grow awareness for pediatric cancer, the Friends of Jaclyn foundation, and Lucy and her Family all season long.
We love you Lucy and can’t wait to have you alongside us for the rest of the year We are, and always will be, #LucyStrong
