Start of a New Year For IGS!

Submitted by Leatha Jimerson

Our March meeting was well attended on the Cattaraugus Territory. As usual, a delicious meal was provided via pot luck which everyone enjoyed. Introductions were made by those attending and it was very interesting to hear about everyone’s family history.

Arthur Hill from the SNI Archives gave an interesting talk regarding the type of documents available to view such as maps, Newsletters, SNI records and the Iroquois Census Project to name a few. You can contact Art at 716-945-1750 X 7848 to make an appointment to view documents.

Teresa VanAernam invited anyone who would like to give a family presentation to sign up for the months of June, July or November.

The monthly IGS meetings occur on the second Thursday of each month and alternate between the Allegany and Cattaraugus Territories. The meetings are a great opportunity to meet and learn more about genealogy. There is a good chance you will discover a new family connection!

Please check out our website: www.iroquoisgenealogysociety.org. There are many resources available on the website such as census records, church and school lists etc.

We hope to see you soon! Be safe!
