Seneca Fire Members Get Certified

During the week of May 9th, seven (7) members from Seneca Fire – Allegany Territory, became certified in two different safety courses. Lead by New York State Fire Instructors, the training was held at the South Dayton Fire Department. In total, 40 members from various Cattaraugus County fire departments attended and became certified. They obtained certification in the following:

Traffic Incident Management System
All emergency response personnel who respond to incidents on the roadway are eligible to earn this certification to demonstrate that they have obtained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to properly discharge duties like positioning blocking vehicles, setting up a traffic incident management area, deploying and removing temporary traffic control devices, and conducting manual traffic control.

Highway Safety for Emergency Responders
Learn to recognize the potential and existing hazards while operating on or near a highway. Participants learned the elements of a safe work zone while understanding the need for multi-agency incident command.
