From The Desk Of The Treasurer

Greetings,

Summer officially started on June 21st, 2022 and I’ve already darkened up some from working in my yard and tending to outdoor chores. I hope everyone is taking the time to spend time outdoors and enjoy the sunshine! The vitamin D will do everyone some good.

With summer upon us, the Slow Down Jimtown community campaign to urge drivers to obey the 25 mile per hour speed limit, in the Jimtown area of the Allegany territory, is gearing up and planning a community outreach effort for June 29th, 2022. Among the events planned, there will be a community walk from the SAAB to the ACC, which includes a cookout at the ACC. So, if you travel the roads in the Jimtown area on a regular basis, please obey the 25 mile per hour speed limit for the safety of our children and all of our community members. For more information about the Slow Down Jimtown event, please contact: Sharon Ray at (716) 945-1790, X3137.

In some local lacrosse news, I’d like to give a shout out to our Lakeshore Varsity Boys Lacrosse team for their strong efforts this season. The Eagles made it all the way to the Class C State Semifinal round against the Westhill Warriors, on June 8th in Cortland, NY. Although Westhill took the win, with their aggressive defense, the Lakeshore Varsity Boys Lacrosse team played hard and fought to the end. In Buffalo Bandits news, they went into their second playoff game against the Colorado Mammoth in Denver on June 11th, and unfortunately, they didn’t bring home the win. That made it Bandits one, Mammoths one. They played their final game three in the 2022 National Lacrosse League (NLL) against the Colorado Mammoth on Saturday, June 18th, in Buffalo. Although the Bandits fought hard and executed great plays, they just couldn’t pull ahead for the win. The final score was 10-8. One of our own, Zed Williams, played an outstanding game for the Colorado Mammoth.
