Seneca Nation Council & Executives Support Haudenosaunee Nationals Lacrosse Team

The Seneca Nation is proud to announce that seven young Seneca athletes traveled across the globe and touched down in Ireland to participate in the Men’s U21 World Championship Lacrosse games earlier this month. These distinguished bearers of the Creator’s game include Keelan Seneca, Efrain Barreto, Jr., Daylin John-Hill, Clay Scanlan, Amos Whitcomb, Xavier Taylor, Julian Freeman, and Dylan Snow.

Seneca Nation Councilors and Executives also gathered earlier this month to recognize a $100,000 donation made by the Seneca Nation to the team in their quest for Olympic Gold at the 2028 Olympics. Athletes were gifted special travel bags and #StandWithSeneca t-shirts. Each young man was given an opportunity to express themselves to the group.

According to the Haudenosaunee Nationals website, “While Lacrosse has been a medal game in the Olympics twice over the past 100 years, in 2021, the International Olympic Committee granted full recognition to World Lacrosse. The Haudenosaunee Nationals intend on participating under our own flag as a world-recognized Nation State in the 2028 Olympics being held in Los Angeles, California.”
The Haudenosaunee (or “People of the Longhouse”) are comprised of six nations (Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, Oneida, Mohawk, and Tuscarora) joined together to form a Confederacy – the oldest, continuous democracy in North America.
