Greetings,
By now, all of our students should have returned to their 2022-2023 school year and are learning new things. When I was growing up, this was the time of year I could count on getting a new pair of shoes and some new duds. It also meant hunting season was right around the corner.
This is also the season for a wide variety of community events and fun things to do. The H.E.R.O. Back to School Bash was a big success this year, considering we haven’t been able to host this event indoors, since the summer of 2019. I understand the highlight of the event was the face painting, the balloon artist and Karley Brooks with her henna hand painting. Plenty of food and drinks were available and they gave away some great door prizes! Each student in attendance received a back pack which contained a few school supplies. The ACC still has some sneakers available in various sizes. If you are interested, please call the ACC at (716) 945-8119, to see what sizes and colors they have. In conjunction with the event, our TERC, Education and Human Resources departments put together a College/Career Fair and a Job Fair. People could walk in and be interviewed on the spot for some select job openings with Seneca Nation. Kudos to everyone that planned the Back To School Bash and to those whom donated items to make the event successful! The H.E.R.O. Committee is already busy planning the upcoming fall and winter events. Keep up the good work everyone!
Our Fiscal staff has been working diligently with Council to finalize all of the annual budgets for the upcoming fiscal year, which begins on October 1st, 2022. There have been several planning meetings to review each department’s employee roster and each department’s budget line item amounts. No stone is left unturned during this process and I really commend all of the hard work that goes into our budget season each year. The final budget is scheduled to be sent to the next regular Council session tomorrow, September 17th, 2022, for final approval.
