Regarding the name/likeness of the Haudenosaunee Nationals
Recently, the Haudenosaunee Nationals have received numerous inquires and questions regarding outside teams utilizing colors and designs similar to those of our organization.
Obviously these actions have caused a great deal of confusion. As such, we wish to clarify that the “Haudenosaunee Nationals,” is the sole official representative for all World Lacrosse events. More importantly, we are the only organization that has been officially sanctioned by the Grand Council of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy and by World Lacrosse. Any other team operating outside of our organization is not, in any manner, affiliated with the Haudenosaunee Nationals.
The primary focus of the Haudenosaunee Nationals is to participate in events that will recognize our people and our athletics on the international stage – not only as originators of the game, but as Indigenous people. Other invitational events that provide our players with opportunities to compete and develop are considered on a case by case basis. We always encourage our players to seek out competitive opportunities whenever possible. We do this because we want our players to be the very best they can be, both on and off the field.
Our ultimate goal is to work towards the inclusion and representation by the Haudenosaunee Nationals in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. With this goal in mind, we wish to inform and assure our communities that we are working diligently on a strategic plan to further develop or pool of players as we continue to progress and move forward. It is a great and distinct honor to represent our Haudenosaunee Confederacy. We do not take this responsibility lightly.
The Haudenosaunee Nationals are fully committed to the promotion of our values of peace, friendship and healing every time we take the field and how we conduct ourselves in life.
