At the Seneca Allegany Resort & Casino Community Social held on November 16, a special award was presented to an outstanding community leader.
Linda “Soupy” Doxtator was recognized for her accomplishments as an elected official and her dedication to the community.
Soupy served six full terms as Seneca Nation Councilor, her first appointment in 1992. At that time, she became the first female Council Co-Chair, a role she held for eight years. In her time in office, Soupy lent her voice and influence to issues that mattered most to the Seneca people. She served on several committees and represented the interests of the Seneca Nation at the National Congress of American Indians, the National Indian Gaming Association, United South and Eastern Tribes and many more national organizations and conferences.
As a community member and leader, Soupy is a firm believer in the strength of community and the need to serve each other. She served as President of the Indian Hill community for many years, earning the unofficial title “Mayor of Indian Hill” for her dedication. Above all, of course, Soupy is dedicated to her family, including her two daughters – Terry and Alexis; her six grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; her brother Dennis and sister Joanne; and her many nieces, nephews and friends.
Congratulations, Soupy, on this well-deserved honor!
