New York, NY—The New-York Historical Society is pleased to announce the election of six members to its Board of Trustees: David Barboza, George Chauncey, Daniel Cohen, Larry Neubauer, Robert Odawi Porter (Seneca), and Michael Solender.
“Six exceptional individuals—leaders in their respective fields of finance, academia, journalism, and public service—have joined our Board in the last eight months,” said Dr. Agnes Hsu-Tang, Chair of New-York Historical’s Board of Trustees. “This is a testament to our institution’s impact as a national leader in history, civics education, and the advancement of democracy. Their commitment to the New-York Historical Society comes at an especially exciting time as we broaden the impact of our mission with the largest expansion of our Museum since its founding in 1804. It is a privilege to welcome the six new trustees as we work together for the future of our institution.”
Robert Odawi Porter (Seneca, Heron Clan, Allegany Territory) is a visiting professor of law at Cornell Law School and Co-Managing Principal of the Capitol Hill Policy Group in Washington DC. He is a former President of the Seneca Nation of Indians who has devoted his 30-year career to advancing the rights of sovereign American Indian nations in the United States.
