Unity Museum Buffalo held their annual Race Unity Day Picnic on Sunday, June 11th at Ellicott Creek Park in Buffalo, NY. The event included music, poetry, and featured keynote speaker Michael Martin, Seneca – Haudenosaunee Nation, who is the Executive Director of the Native American Cultural Center, along with about 60 guests of all ages that celebrated the oneness of humanity and the diversity of our cultures.
This years theme was “Where we are today, where we need to go.” The Museum’s mobile exhibits were on site which showcase a variety of global themes that are related to our social, material, and cultural progress. Its primary collections celebrate the city of Buffalo. More than a collection of historical items, Unity Museum Buffalo is a space for engaging in a broader realm of communication to reflect on our history, and for fostering discussions about solutions for tomorrow: “Learn from yesterday, plan for today, so we’re ready for the future.”
