Gagwe:göh sgë:nö’,

What great weather we have been having. I appreciate this time of year where we can do outdoor family activities. School will start soon and new routines will begin. The best coming is football season, Let’s go Buffalo!

We are continuing to have community meetings for members in Buffalo on August 23rd at 5:30pm at 533 Amherst St. and with the Steamburg community on August 31st at 5:30pm at the Steamburg Community Center. Council and Executives will be available to share current Nation events with question and answer time. For more information, feel free to contact the Executive or Council offices. A meeting is scheduled for Erie members in October.

We faced a terrible tragedy in early July with the loss of the Newtown Longhouse. The Nation dedicated $200,000 in support toward the rebuild and any other needs necessary. There is much community support from those helping with construction, donation of food and water for the workers and moral support to each other. It is great to see everyone come together for this historical journey, Ja:göh!

Budget hearings continue for Nation Departments, the final presentation on next years full budget will be presented at the September Council session. As you can see it takes many months of review to put each year’s budget together.

Congratulations to all of the sports teams in Championship games over the summer. Your hard work has paid off. Enjoy the rest of the summer before school starts.

As always, stay safe and stay strong,
Dah ne’hoh dih ae’
