August 10, 2023 | Special Announcement from KArt
The just-released issue of Art in America features a profile of G. Peter Jemison, which includes a pull-out print of his lost work, o:nyõ’hsowa:neh gowa (Great Pumpkin), 1974. The feature discusses Peter’s growth as both an artist and a Seneca, and explains the fascinating story about how his 1974 work was stolen, and then lost in the abyss of a NYC police warehouse. Pieces of Jemison’s work can be seen at K Art Gallery’s Heat Wave exhibition, with one particular creation being the source of inspiration for the show. The gallery is open by appointment only.
