The short film “Our Longhouse” has been accepted as an official selection to the Buffalo International Film Festival, Syracuse International Film Festival and the prestigious Red Nation International Film Festival. Directed by Creatives Rebuild New York Artist Maurice John, Jr. and produced by the Seneca Nation of Indians’ Seneca Media & Communications Center and the Seneca-Iroquois National Museum, the documentary style short film chronicles the construction of the “Living Longhouse” project during spring and summer of 2022.
The film made its premiere as part of the grand opening of the Living Longhouse and “Carson Waterman: A Retrospective” at the Seneca-Iroquois National Museum Onöhsagwë:de’ Cultural Center in May of this year. “Our Longhouse” makes its Buffalo premiere at the Buffalo International Film Festival on Saturday, October 7th, part of the “BIFF Shorts: Racial Justice in View” collection of films, to be held at the Central Library in downtown Buffalo. The film will then be screened respectively in Syracuse, NY and Los Angeles, CA as part of each festival’s programming.
The film is currently on exhibit at the Museum.
