Rodney Pierce and Mike Crouse Deliver Dugout Canoe

The dugout canoe has been delivered. The latest addition to the Living Longhouse installation, the canoe will serve as an educational tool to express and explain traditional techniques for building and creating utilitarian items as technically sound as possible. The dugout canoe starts with a full tree trunk, and is hollowed out through a process of controlled burning and scraping out the embers until the desired depth for seating is achieved.
