From The Desk of The Treasurer

Nya:wëh sgë:nö’,

It’s been a very rainy month. Hopefully the weather will be better for Halloween. The CCC and the Sully center will have spooky fun activities during the week. Check the Seneca Media page for more details. Stay safe everyone.

Some exciting news for the Mortgage program. Council approved new mortgage rates starting at .5%, 1%, and 2% based on the applicant’s credit score. Homeowners can see significant payment reductions with these new rates. For more information contact Sherry Thompson in Cattaraugus or Tina Becker in Allegany.

The Treasurer’s office recognized the Fiscal team for their hard work during the budget process and with their recommendations to keep the budget balanced at $200 million for 2024. Nya:wëh to the Department for their daily attention to the Nation’s budget policies and procedures.

A few upcoming changes includes a change to the distribution amount by the Poor Masters program. More information will be disclosed as it develops. Lastly, the November Council is pushed back one week due to a conflict with the National Congress of American Indians Annual Convention. This forum allows for an opportunity for Council and Executives to get support at a National level for any of our legislative issues.

As always stay safe and stay strong,
