The Rochester Museum & Science Center (RMSC) Collections team recently met with artist Hayden Haynes and colleagues from the Onöhsagwë:de’ Cultural Center for an exciting preview of an upcoming exhibition.
They toured our related collections and delivered artworks commissioned by the RMSC for an upcoming 2024 exhibition: Hodinöšyö:nih Continuity · Innovation · Resilience, curated by Jamie Jacobs (Tonawanda Seneca Nation, Turtle Clan) of the Rock Foundation Collection.
Haynes’ artworks for the exhibition utilize traditional Hodinöšyö:nih (Haudenosaunee) materials such as moose antler, and juxtapose both traditional iconography with contemporary symbols, visually connecting the past and present.
