World Indigenous Suicide Prevention Conference 2024 (WISPC)

Reclaiming Indigenous Resiliency and Hope

The Seneca Nation will host the World Indigenous Suicide Prevention Conference in Niagara Falls, New York, on the July 23- 25, 2024.

The 1st World Indigenous Suicide Prevention Forum, held in 2016 in Rotorua, New Zealand, was an international milestone, bringing together Indigenous nations from around the world to embrace our cultural values and tackle the urgent issue of suicide in our communities. Over 400 attendees from New Zealand, Australia, the United States, and Canada, along with an Indigenous Youth Summit, made it a resounding success.

There are common threads linking our Indigenous communities when it comes to suicide: colonization, historical trauma, intergenerational trauma, and shared experiences. But the path to healing lies within our cultures, traditions, languages, and our deep connection to the land.

Join us at this event, where Indigenous voices will discuss strengths-based approaches to creating a brighter future. Let’s unite for change and healing.

The new wispc2024 conference logo was designed with motifs in mind that reflect elements of Seneca culture & history, like the Sky Dome pattern, as well as representation of water and of Treaties past. In the middle is a Turtle, representative of Turtle Island, our home and the home of all our relatives.
