November 2023 Honorees
Congratulations and Ja:göh! Seneca Nation employees across the territories recently gathered to celebrate the November Employees’ of the Month! Joined by their peers and honored by Executives and Council, two team members were recognized for their hard work, dedication, and overall exemplary job performance. Ja:göh on your accomplishments, Jeanette Shinners, Procurement Coordinator, Fiscal (Allegany) and Briana Snyder, Options Counselor, AOA (Cattaraugus).


Jeanette Shinners is the Seneca Nation Employee of the Month for Allegany for the month of November. Jeanette is part of the Fiscal Department and holds the title of Procurement Officer. Her employment for the Seneca Nation goes back to 1997 when she started at Seneca Gaming and Entertainment before transferring to Fiscal in 2010.
As the Procurement Coordinator, Jeanette is responsible for working with our vendors to find the lowest prices, purchasing fleet vehicles, processing payments for digital devices, food, and committee payments. She also manages the housing assistance procedures and payments. Cheryl Watts, Fiscal Director, depends on Jeanette and her work ethic every day. Jeanette insists that her job is very rewarding despite the rumors that working in the fiscal department can be scary or intimidating.
Jeanette enjoys about working for the Seneca Nation is her co-workers. “We all work well with one another as a team to accomplish monthly goals,” shared Jeanette.
Jeanette’s accomplishments include gaining her bachelor’s degree while working full-time while raising kids, being a wife and believes anything is possible if you push. Her next goal is to obtain her master’s degree.
One thing on Jeanette’s bucket list is a to vacation in Tahiti in an overwater bungalow.
A short reception was held on both territories for each honoree. All employees were invited for cider and donuts. Both employees received a paid day off, parking spot and choice of gift card.
Briana Snyder has been selected as the Novemeber Employee of the Month for Cattaraugus Territory. Briana works at the AOA Department as the Options Counselor and has been an employee for the Nation for 13 years.
One thing about working for the Nation that Briana enjoys is being able to help people. A goal of hers for the future is to become independently wealthy. Something about her job she would others to know is that there are Medicare answers locally. Travelling abroad is on Briana’s bucket list and she is proud of herself for keeping her office plants alive!
