The Portland, Oregon-based sculptor Marie Watt makes towers out of blankets that provide a commentary on life in the Pacific Northwest, including that of Indigenous people. One of the materials she regularly uses is treaty cloth, provided by the federal government to the Seneca Nation, of which Watt is a member, as part of the 1794 Treaty of Canandaigua signed by George Washington.
