Layla Seneca Returns Home, Inspiring Students
“I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to return home and represent Penn State and the Indigenous Peoples’ Student Association. We visited four high schools: Salamanca, Gowanda, Silver Creek, and Lakeshore, who all have a higher Native American student population, particularly from the Seneca and Haudenosaunee Nations. Sharing insights and connecting with these aspiring leaders was truly an honor, and I hope we can continue our partnership.
Returning to Lake Shore and hopefully inspiring students to explore higher education was incredibly fulfilling. Emphasizing that, while representing Penn State, our mission extends to all Indigenous youth, encouraging them to pursue their dreams regardless of where they choose to continue their education.
Us Indigenous kids have boundless opportunities, and there are no limits to what we can do. Whether it was a junior contemplating college or a senior with limited time, I wanted to convey that our Penn State community offers unwavering support. Take the chance, apply, and know that your dreams are within reach!
A big thank you to the teachers at all 4 schools for working with me and helping me get this planned!!” ~Layla Seneca (Seneca, Cattaraugus Territory)
