Gowanda Elementary School united Tuesday, November 14, 2023, to celebrate a unique worldwide recognition during Native American Heritage Month

Third-grade lacrosse player Jheneli Skye Huff, a member of the Seneca Nation, is featured in the November/December 2023 issue of Scholastic News, which is read by more than six million people across the globe.
Students in Pre-Kindergarten through fourth grade wore purple (her lacrosse team color) in a display of support and solidarity with the team as they gathered in the gymnasium to applaud Jheneli and her fellow lacrosse players at Gowanda.
Following introductions by teachers Caroline Young and Samantha Chiappone, hundreds of our Panthers watched the informative and entertaining video produced by Scholastic.
