IRVING — U.S. Rep. Nick Langworthy has met with the Seneca Nation Council to discuss the needs and priorities of the Seneca Nation, as well as provide legislative updates.

“I’m proud to partner with the Seneca Nation Council to build a better future for the Seneca Nation and our region as a whole — this meeting was a continuation of our strong relationship,” Langworthy, R-23rd District, said after the meeting, which occurred on Wednesday.

“I’ve been a vocal advocate for the renewal of their gaming compact and ensure that the state follows through, protecting thousands of good-paying jobs. We also touched on key projects like the much-needed repairs for Prospect Street and their environmental concerns,” the congressman said in a prepared statement.

Seneca Nation President Rickey Armstrong, Sr. said, “We were happy to welcome Congressman Langworthy to Seneca territory to meet with members of the Seneca Nation Council.

“The priority concerns and interests of the Seneca Nation extend from ensuring the sovereignty, safety and well-being of our Nation, our people, and our lands to matters that impact all of Western New York,” Armstrong said.

“We look forward to building on today’s meeting and working with Congressman Langworthy to make sure our concerns are heard in Washington,” Armstrong said.
