Nya:wëh Sgënö’,
I’m sending Happy New Year wishes to everyone!! I hope all your resolutions and goals are met throughout the year.
Our goal of clearing the Nation’s debt was completed at the end of December. The Nation and SGC do not have any outstanding debt on its balance sheet. What a great accomplishment! Nya:wëh to our fiscal department for managing all our responsibilities. They completed over fifty budget reports at the end of year and had no issues with the BIA on site review within our grants department.
Everything is on track with our budget as we near the end of the first quarter. Directors are keeping current with their operating budgets and our enterprises are doing well as predicted. I would like to commend the Directors for their hard work throughout the year. Our communities benefit from their diligence and dedication as reflective in the programs and services they offer.
For instance, The Safe Homes project recently completed their 11th replacement home. This program was designed to help homeowners replace inadequate structures. Currently four new homes will be ordered for the next round of applications. For more information or an application please contact the Housing Department at 716-532-5000 at extension 7730.
Please be mindful to wash your hands to avoid spreading germs during the cold and flu season. COVID is still on the rise within our communities. Many places are considering a mask mandate including hospitals. Remember to follow COVID protocols when necessary to avoid spreading to others.
You can contact the health department for the most recent COVID vaccination and flu shots.
Stay safe, and stay strong,
Dah ne’hoh dih ae’
