Gagwe:göh sgë:nö’,

I’m thankful you’re all well. We are already into February and its predicted we will have an early spring. Some interesting news will occur in our region on Monday, April 8th, a total solar eclipse. This occurs when the moon passes between he sun and the earth blocking out the sun. Parts of western New York will see the eclipse starting at approximately 2:04pm with the maximum eclipse occurring around 3:18pm.

The last eclipse occurred in 2017 and the next anticipated will happen in 2044. This is an excellent opportunity to witness a historical event. The Executive and Council office has provided eclipse glasses to the Clerks office for individuals completing their annual registration. For those who have already registered can still pick up a pair of glasses at the Clerks office. It’s very important not to look directly at the eclipse as it can harm serious eye injury.

Keep an eye out for more information regarding special events around the total eclipse around the Nation programs.

The facilities department will be working with contractors to redesign the entries for the Administration buildings. The intention is to create a safer entrance similar to what you may see at secure building. Currently the Marshals’ have designated two door officers in the entry ways where visitors must sign in. More information is forthcoming.

After a brief hiatus the Mortgage program is again able to receive lower interest rate applications for current participants. Council recently passed a reduced interest rate of .5% for those who qualify. For more information, please contact the Mortgage program.

I wish everyone a very Happy Valentine’s Day! Keep your loved ones close and tell them how much they mean to you every day.

Stay safe and stay strong,

Dah ne’hoh dih ae’.
