I wanted to update our community on the current compact negotiations. As you know in December, I signed a temporary compact extension in New York State to allow us to continue negotiating with the state without disrupting our casino operations, and the lives of our many valuable casino employees.
Since that time, our team has been meeting with New York State negotiators every week. Our governments have been going through each section of the compact to ensure we have a mutual agreement, important terms, processes, and obligations. The discussions have not always been smooth, but we are making progress. as our last meeting.
We believe we have come to a substantial agreement and approximately 1/3 of compact sections. We still need to come to an agreement on some of the most important issues, including exclusivity and revenue share. The current compact extension is set to expire in March, and it is our goal to reach fair and reasonable agreement by then. If our negotiations are not complete, an extension will be automatically renewed unless either government objects.
We all know how important is for a fair compact for the Seneca Nation and Western New York, and we will continue fighting for and working towards an agreement that protects our nation’s investments, our economic viability, and our future. We will keep you updated as these negotiations continue.
