I’m thankful you are well. I am thankful we are having a very mild winter, although I know the snow snake players would like more snow.
At the February 19th Council session the following resolution was presented and passed: to approve the Seneca Nation’s application to the Department of Housing and Urban Development Indian Community Development Block Grant and the guarantee the citizens participation requirement and leveraging commitment of the grant for new site for the Buffalo Creek Community center located at 265 Skillen Avenue in Buffalo. The Nation will be able to purchase a structure and renovate to fit their needs for office space, classroom space and outdoor activities for Seneca members. The Buffalo community is extremely excited to have a space more conducive to their needs.
On another note, employees of the Seneca Nation will participate in an important training over the next few weeks. At times the buildings or programs may be closed to accommodate the training.
With the increase in random shootings throughout the United States at schools, churches, parades and general gatherings it is imperative our employees are prepared to react and plan for such an event to occur at their worksite. The run, hide, fight (RHF) training is a mandatory training where employees will learn about strategies to use during this type of event in a classroom setting. The second part is to participate in a practical situation where the strategies can be executed.
Please continue to be safe and stay healthy as we are experiencing an extreme cold and flu season.
