All Time Leading Scorer In Sliver Creek History

Submitted by Lenith Waterman

On Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at a home game against Cassadaga Valley Cougars, Ray surpassed Ryan Mangano’s 20 year all time leading score in Silver Creek history. Ray needed only 10 points going into this game to break the record. Ray remained scoreless in the first quarter but scored 15 of his game high of 24 in the second quarter. Ray scored 7 points early in the second quarter and needed a 3 pointer to not only tie but also break the record in the same shot. On his next opportunity Ray got to the 3-point line and drilled the shot. Silver Creek Coach Ralph Jackson stated that Ray is a once-in-a-career player, something like this doesn’t happen too often. Former record holder Ryan Mangano was welcomed to the floor by Athletic Director Sean Helmer with a customized ball to commemorate the occasion which he then presented to Ray. Ryan Mangano previously held the school record for more than 20 years, with 1272 career points, since his graduation in 2003. Ray set the record in less than 3 seasons with a career average of 24 points per game. He missed 10 games over three seasons and did not join the varsity team until he was a sophomore. When Ray did join, he set the single season scoring record and single season points per game mark. Now, Ray has the career mark as well.

On December 11, 2023, Ray became the 8th player in Silver Creek boys basketball history to reach 1,000 points and recently became the 5th player to score more than 1,200 career points. Ray’s uncles Bill Brooks and Zed Williams also surpassed 1,200 career points and his aunt Jordan Brooks reached 1,000 points.

Good job Ray, you achieved so much in your 3 years playing for the Silver Creek Black Knights. We are so very proud of you. Success is in your future.

We are looking forward to watching you succeed in your lacrosse season! Good Luck!
