Seneca Nation Applauds Arrest of Drug Trafficker Targeting Cattaraugus Territory

CATTARAUGUS TERRITORY, IRVING, N.Y. – Seneca Nation President Rickey Armstrong. Sr is applauding the recent arrest of a Buffalo resident suspected of bringing illegal drugs, including cocaine and fentanyl, onto the Nation’s Cattaraugus Territory.

The Erie County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest earlier this week, stating it was the result of a year-long investigation, established by an anonymous tip. The arrest and searches of residences in Buffalo and West Seneca produced amounts of crack cocaine, cocaine, fentanyl, additional narcotics, packaging, scales, cutting agents, and significant U.S. currency, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

“We were happy to learn of the investigation and arrest of this dangerous individual, and I want to applaud all of the law enforcement agencies involved along with those responsible for providing the information that led to the investigation,” President Armstrong said. “We want to send a clear and strong message that the Seneca Nation will continue to vigorously fight the drug battle on our territories. The sale and use of narcotics is plaguing too many communities and destroying too many lives in our community, throughout Western New York, and in communities across the country.”

The Seneca Nation has recently banished several known and suspected drug dealers and other criminals from all Nation lands, conducted evictions at residences on Seneca Territory where criminal activity is suspected, established a drug task force, and is working cooperatively with the Seneca Mothers Against Drug Dealers and Seneca & Salamanca Mothers Against Drug Dealers community groups to target drug activity on Seneca territory.

“Individuals like the person arrested this week, and those who support them, need to be stopped. There are many more out there who also need to be brought to justice,” President Armstrong added. “Every successful drug bust and every dealer put behind bars by law enforcement is a small victory over a vile enemy. We hope we continue to see more important victories for our community and our neighbors in the future.”
