Repost from Gowanda Central School District

Over the mid-winter break, Gowanda High students spent time (February 20-22, 2024) making ribbon shirts, skirts and dresses with the My Brother’s Keeper Native American Program sewing project under the direction of Ms. Darice Sampson and coordinated by Ms. Amy Mohawk.

Further guidance was given by staff at the Seneca Nation’s The Stanley Huff Heritage Center, including some Elder visitors and a Tribal Councillor.

Seniors Alhanna Gabel, Layla Gamble and Calie Hudson finished outfits to wear on special occasions such as graduation. Sophomore Marcus Gamble impressively completed a ribbon shirt in only three days and can wear it to future events as well.

MBK-NAP is so proud of these hard-working and ambitious students. Great job, Panthers!
