Seneca Nation Conservation Teaches 3rd Graders about Sugar Maple Tree Tapping

March 14, 2024 | Repost from SCCSD FB

Salamanca City Central School District 3rd graders observed the annual Sugar Maple tree tapping demonstration with Chris Jimerson aka “Bundy” or as the kids like to call him, the Lorax. Mr. Jimerson is the Forest Manager for the Seneca Nation Conservation Department.

This is the 3rd year Seneca Nation Conservation has collaborated with the Seneca Language and Culture teacher, Brooke Kennedy, and the Native American Curriculum team to bring our students this land-based learning experience.

With the recent school calendar changes, our Maple syrup boiling was rescheduled for Thursday 3/28. All of 3rd and 5th grade attended the boil day.
