Seneca Nation Employees of the Month!

Ja:göh Curtis Archer, Cattaraugus Territory and Lawrence W. Becelia, Allegany Territory

Curtis Archer has been an employee of the Seneca Nation for 26 years! Currently Curtis is an Employment Counselor at SNI’s Training & Employment Resource Center’s Cattaraugus Territory. He’s worked as Seneca Nation Law Enforcement for 8yrs (ECC Police Academy 1988), 1 year Niagara Fall Gaming Inspector, 6 years at SNI Environmental Dept. (Compliance Officer Inspecting all Fuel dispensaries on Territories). 1 year at Allegany Surveillance dept as Surveillance Officer and 10 years at SNI TERC department

Something Curtis is fortunate for about working for the Nation is working with ten employees & nine of them are female. There is nothing more comforting then to come to work and get nine beautiful smiles & feel the sincerity of greetings every morning. The Seneca Nation TERC team makes every effort to help individuals that have the courage to enter the TERC Office almost anyone can benefit from the services in one way or another.

A goal for the future is to keep his grandchildren away from drugs & alcohol and the people that use drugs & alcohol (Explaining the serious Fatal effects these drugs can cause). Keeping his grandchildren in a safe environment so they may be able to make positive decisions.

One thing he wishes people knew about TERC is there are always new skills to be learned. That everyone is treated respectfully, fairly and will be provided with support to become employed. Ineligibility – Not living within 25 miles of Territory, must be enrolled in Federally recognized Tribe or a First Seneca descendant and if a participant did not complete his or her training, they become ineligible for any further financial assistance.

One thing on his bucket is to travel to watch a Final Four game. Curtis is proud of his WORD, his TIME – He has never told someone he would be there and not shown up. To his knowledge he has never been late. He’s proud to have grown up old school & learned from family, friends & elders.

Lawrence “Larry” Becelia has been an employee for the nation going on 19 years. What he enjoys most about working for the Seneca Nation is the people he get to interact with on a daily basis both in the profession and privet sector’s.

His goals for the next few months are to get his officers properly fit with the safety equipment they need to perform their job to the best of their ability. He also needs to get SOP’s done for new patrol boat operations. Larry would like to see Fish & Wildlife grow and become fully staffed.

He wished people knew more about the behind scenes work they do to protect our river and fight for clean water. They work with a large number of different agencies who are like minded and want the same for the Allegany River.

On Larry’s bucket list is to visit every state in the country and one day see Italy. He’s very proud to be a grandpa, he loves to spend time with his grandkids.
