Ja:göh Destiny Lickers!

Six Nations Polytechnic:
Destiny Lickers, Onöndowa’ga:’, Otá:yö:nih clan from Six Nations of the Grand River. Destiny is a PSW student at SNP completing her final clinical placement at Iroquois Lodge. She is also mother to two beautiful babies.

Destiny shares why she has a passion for becoming a PSW and why she chose SNP!

“I got into this line of work because I grew up visiting my grandmother at work and I watched her care for the elders at Iroquois Lodge and it’s always felt like home there. When my grandpa got really sick, and I wanted to take care of him the best I could but being as young as I was, I didn’t know how to, so after a few years I looked for a way that I could give back to him and I came across the PSW program that same day. I chose SNP because it was local and I wanted to be able to learn and work in an environment that I knew would accept me, my beliefs and culture.

I like that everyone is so caring at SNP, if life’s happening at home and things are getting to be overwhelming the teachers are always so willing to work with you and make sure you’re able to complete what you’ve set out to do. These teachers aren’t just there for their jobs but most importantly they’re there to make sure each student is successful, and I am forever thankful for my teachers I’ve gotten to work with.” Ja:göh, Destiny!
