Death of Cole Brings Plenty

Seneca Nation Joins Others in Calling for Full Investigation into Death of Cole Brings Plenty

April 12, 2024

ALLEGANY TERRITORY, SALAMANCA, N.Y. – Following the disappearance and subsequent discovery of the body of Indigenous actor and student Cole Brings Plenty, Seneca Nation President Rickey Armstrong. Sr is adding the Seneca Nation’s voice to those urging a full and thorough investigation into the tragedy:

“The initial news that Cole Brings Plenty had gone missing caused an all too familiar sear of pain, confusion, and anger across Indian Country. Here we were, again faced with another Native person who had mysteriously gone missing, without answers or reason. It is a situation that happens with shocking regularity in Native communities across the United States. While these occurrences most often go muted and unnoticed, Mr. Plenty’s public profile brought needed attention to his disappearance.”

“Unfortunately, the news of Mr. Plenty’s disappearance was ultimately followed with the tragic announcement that his body had been found. The Seneca Nation extends our condolences to Mr. Plenty’s family and the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe who mourn his passing. As important, we join our voices with theirs, and with Native people and advocates across Indian Country in urging a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mr. Plenty’s death. The people of Indian Country need more than answers and explanations to tragic losses. The continued scourge of missing and murdered Indigenous people in this country must come to an end.”
