Professional Development Training on Indigenous Music with Darelyn Spruce

April 18, 2024 | Repost From Lakeshore Central School District FB

Darelyn Spruce, a member of the Seneca Nation, provided Lake Shore’s music department teachers a professional development training on indigenous music, water drums, and horn rattles. In the session, teachers heard what the instruments mean culturally and learned appropriate ways to incorporate their use in music classrooms, and hopefully band and other music classes. Ms. Spruce customizes the drums and rattles with the school logo for teachers to keep and use in the classroom with their students.
