Third-graders in the Title Vl Native American Education classes at Gowanda Elementary School recently finished their clan project and have been bringing home the clan tote bags they created. Before the project begins, they talk about the clan system in class. They discuss clans from here as well as other Haudenosaunee Nations. They also talk about other cultures that have clans. Every student was able to draw then paint their clan on a tote bag. Once dry, they were able to take the bags home. They are very proud of their work!
