Gowanda Middle School students in Seneca classes were fortunate to have Nödis’ah Marcus Waterman from the Sully Huff Heritage Center visit on Friday, May 31, 2024. Nödis’ah, a member of the GCS Class of 2004, shared knowledge of traditional games handed down to him by his elders to pass to the next generations.
Mr. Waterman shared where to find the resources to make the game pieces. He went over rules and all were all able to try Gage:da’s (javelin or hoop & javelin), Double Ball (similar to lacrosse) and Atlatl. Check the comments for clips of the group in action! Nya:wëh Nödis’ah!
